Product Description
Powerspark Lucas 43D Distributor Non Vac Top Entry
The Lucas 43D distributor is a non vacuum version of the popular Lucas 45D distributor.
The Lucas 45D is one of the most widely used distributors on any British classic car, and this non-vac advance version is often used in classic racing cars.
A vacuum advance brings many advantages to a road car, allowing the ignition of the engine to retard based on the position of the throttle. This gives better idling, better economy, better low down torque and better running overall through the breadth of the rev range.
Running a distributor with no vacuum advance loses all of those benefits, however with racing cars, the variance in operating conditions are less - performance is generally required when the throttle is wide open, so there is no real requirement for a vacuum advance.
With racing cars, optimum performance of the engine at high revs is more important than fuel economy or running while cold and under very little load, which is why a non-vac distributor is used.
Without the vacuum components and weights, a non-vac distributor is less complicated to maintain and easier to time.
This distributor can be used in place of a 45D.
We offer the Lucas 43D non vacuum Distributor as follows:
Lucas 43D Non Vac Points Distributor (D24P)
Lucas 43D Non Vac Electronic Distributor (D24)
