K8 - Powerspark Electronic Ignition Kit (Negative Earth) for Ducellier 4 Cyl Distributor
This kit is designed to replace the points and condenser inside a Ducellier 4 Cyl Distributor, as fitted to some Citroen, Land Rover, Mini, Metro and Talbot vehicles, amongst others.
The Ducellier 4 Cyl distributor was used in place of British made distributors when a striking work force made British equivalents difficult to source!

Powerspark Electronic Ignition explained in more detail:
The kit uses a simple magnetic trigger and optimises dwell to provide a reliable and consistent spark across the rev range. It is easy to install and maintenance free.
Each kit comprises a baseplate with electronic module, trigger ring and all wiring. The new electronic baseplate mounts exactly where the points and condenser baseplate sat. The kit connects directly to the coil using the wires provided, red to the positive side and black to the negative side. The ignition kit will automatically shut down if the ignition is left switched on without the engine running to prevent component damage.
Powerspark Electronic Ignition Kits are designed to work with a coil resistance above 1.5 ohms, typically 3.0 ohms. Some performance coils operate at a lower resistance and will need the High Energy electronic ignition kit.

Not yet fitted
Bought this to replace the points in the Ducellier distributor fitted to my Series 3 Land Rover. Not difficult to fit but I did need to call the very helpful techs at PowerSpark to ensure a good fit. I had to remove the distributor base place to remove a small cam and spring so the module would sit flush, this seems to be a feature of the Ducellier unit that is different to the Lucas fitted to other Series 3 Land Rovers. I had to make some extension leads as the ones on the unit were too short to reach the bulkhead mounted coil but once in place and wired up the engine started fine. I have not fine tuned the timing yet but driving round the block the spark seemed both strong and smooth, so I'm happy. I am not a trained car mechanic, rather an enthusiastic amateur, nothing in this job was complex, unhooking the vacuum unit from the distributor to get the base plate out was fiddly (as was getting it refitted!) I did this with the unit in the car, may have been easier to have removed it. so far I'm pleased with the swap but it's also totally reversible if I wanted to put it back to original spec (mind you I'd probably replace the Ducellier unit with a comparable Lucas unit, the point arrangement is more straightforward!)
