Many classic cars utilise a ballast resistor within the ignition system. It can be difficult to ascertain whether your car has a ballast, but the video below goes some distance to explaining what a ballast resistor is, how it works and how you can find out if your car has one.
If your car DOES have a ballast resistor then you will also require a ballast ignition coil, available here.
