DG9RG - Stromgeër Drive Gear for Rover V8 Distributor
The high-grade steel distributor drive gears are to suit the Lucas 35D distributors for the Rover V8 pre 1976 and post 1976. This gear is the pre 1976 early MGB & V8 engines.
Made from only the best materials, the Stromgeër drive gear was developed by Powerspark as the next step in distributor technology.
The job of a distributor is to precisely time the switching of the ignition coil to ensure the spark happens at exactly the right moment. The rotation of the distributor is dictated by the drive shaft, and the mating of the distributor shaft to the driving shaft is paramount to the accuracy of the distributor. While many distributors are driven by an offset dog gear, some have a helical gear; driven by two sets of gear teeth meshing together.
In order for the distributor to function correctly and accurately, the two gears should be engineered to a very fine tolerance - not just on the way they fit together, but in the materials from which they are both made. If one of the gears is too hard, it will cause unnecessary wear on the other. Too soft, and the reverse will occur.
Our Stromgeër drive gear is the result of a decade working with classic car ignition systems.
Built from EN36 certified chromium-molybdenum case hardening steel, it has been specifically designed for a precise gear fitment whilst minimising engine wear.
The high strength tooth design and burnished finish make the Stromgeër our best fitting helical gear to date.
Stromgeër from Powerspark Ignition is the optimum solution for distributors that are driven by a helical gear.
