D10-98 - Powerspark Lucas 59D Electronic Distributor with 998cc Specific Advance Curve
The Lucas 59D distributor was used in the Mini from 1982 onwards in A Plus engines. It is is suitable for any vehicle that uses the Lucas 59D 4 Cylinder Distributor, such as the Austin Metro and Allegro, as well as some Morris vehicles.
Our 59D is available as points or electronic, with electronic variants being negative earth, positive earth, or High Energy (negative). This distributor is fitted with a vacuum advance, as it was from the factory.
All of our distributors have been developed to run on modern fuel, with a modern advance curve giving them a wide universal fitment.
The 998cc and 1275cc have an advance curve specifically developed to run well in those engines when used in a Mini or Metro.
We do offer a non-vac version of this distributor, which is suited to competition and track vehicles. See below for the complete list of 59D distributors that we offer.
With racing cars, optimum performance of the engine at high revs is more important than fuel economy or running while cold and under very little load, which is why a non-vac distributor is used. Without the vacuum components and weights, a non-vac distributor is less complicated to maintain and easier to time. Only use a non-vac distributor if you are certain that is what you require.
